One of the main attractions of Lamahatta is the newly built Road side Garden surrunded by Dhupi and Pines. The garden displayed with variety of seasonal flowers along with wide variety of Orchids. The watch tower is the main attraction of the garden from where you can have an panaromic view of the Kanchendzonga, Sikkim Hills, river Teesta and Rangit.

Places of Interest:

    Takdah:-

The original name was pronounced as 'Tukdah', which is a Lepcha word meaning mist or fog. Takdah started as a military cantonment during the British colonial days in early 1900s. There has many houses which were built in traditional British architecture. There are several great places of interests and sightseeing attractions as follows :

1) Some of the finest tea gardens of Darjeeling district are located in Takdah. The main tea estates in Takdah are Rungli Rungliot, Gielle, Namring, Jinglam, Poomong, and Teesta Valley estate.

2) Takdah has a great Orchid Center spread across vast stretch of area. Here you can see many different kinds of unusual and colorful Himalayan Orchids being cultivated and grown.

3) There is a monastery in Takdah whose actual name is Dechhen Pema Tshoiling Monastery, but locally known as Takdah Monastery. You will need to climb several stairs to reach up to the Monastery. From there you can get panaromic view of Rungli Rungliot Tea Gardens, Teesta Valley Tea Estate and Durpin Dara View Point, Kalimpong etc.

    Tinchuley:-

another lovely place very nearby Lamahatta and famous for its lovely views of Himalayan range including the snow peaks of Kanchenjunga and spectacular sunrise views.

    Mongpu:-

Another nearby place is Mongpu where you can visit the orchid nurseries, the famous museum of poet Rabindranath Tagore, and see the vast Cinchona plantations.

    Bara and Chota Mangwa:-

You can visit the lovely orange orchards located in Bara and Chota Mangwa. There has the small factories here produce fresh orange juice and really it tastes delicious and absolutely fresh.

A great place to visit is Triveni where Teesta and Rangget meets each other.

    Durpin Viewpoint:-

You can also visit the Durpin Viewpoint located a spectacular view of Teesta river meandering through the mountain landscapes including a lovely view of Kanchenjunga.


Trekking in Lamahatta:

A short nature trail that leads to a small lake on a hill top.

Jungle trekking about 8 kms from Lamahatta to Takda that goes through jungle of pine and dhupi trees.

About 3 kms trek to the Gori Dora - an old fort on top of a hill.

Trekking in Tea Estates will be a memorable experience. Some of the well known tea estates which includes Gleanburn Tea Estate, Rongli Rangliot Tea Estate, Takdha Tea Estate etc.

You can have a trek approx 2 kms to visit a small and very old monestry and from there a short trail leads you to Tuti dara, a beautiful view point of lamahatta.
